After weeks of speculation regarding maladministration and unpaid salaries dating to three months back, Township Rollers outgoing executive committee (exco) convened with the supporter's branches at Palapye to iron out internal issues.
The sole purpose of the meeting was meant to uncover and resolve ongoing issues affecting the club, especially addressing the issue of financial wobbles the club finds itself entangled in. According to the outgone secretary general, Obert Kgati cited that there is no resolution taken because the report provided to the branches was mainly about the financial overview.
Kgati further added that they did not have any problems with supporters or supporters' branches but rather wanted the constitution to be upheld to the latter.
"That is why we went to Palapye for a proper constituted meeting where we would hand over the team to them. The first step of handing over began when they requested to be excused from the meeting to allow selection of the new committee. The due process of handover is ongoing with the new committee" added Kgati.
In an interview, interim additional member, Katokato Freeman acknowledged that the handing over process with the outgoing committee has begun. He pointed out that they had met with them to facilitate the handing over process and asked to do it swiftly as most of the stuff is still with the outgoing committee.
He also acknowledged that, "If the deal we had agreed materialized, we would have been able to pay players, and the team would not be in the mess we are in."
Kgati encouraged all Popa supporters to rally behind the team and be united as they take the team forward. He also asked that the supporters should rally behind the new interim committee. Freeman further pointed out that he can not dwell much into the deal with Centre for Africa Beneficiation (CAB)
Management as they are not well vested to address it, and only the outgoing committee know better about it.
Following the resignation of the exco, the club voted in interim committee led by Nelson Onkabetse as their chairman. Other positions include secretary general held by Ofentse Mosekiemang, three additional members, namely Grace Tshiping, Isaac Moreri and Katokato Freeman. The position of treasure and another additional member shall be co-opted in due course. The interim committee has the mandate to run the club affairs until the next elective congress in 2026.
